The
Bosa herd was established in 1981 with 18 Ridgeway
cows. Our present 90 cow herd is managed with
commercial requirements in mind. We are committed
to maintaining feminine, milky cows with high
fertility, vital for batch calving in Spring
and Autumn and to breeding Herefords free of
waste, with dense muscling plus well developed
hind quarters.
The
female lines were increased by the purchase of
the Reydon herd in November 2003 (from John Little
of Essex) 85 head of well bred Polled Herefords.
We
have always bought the very best stock bulls available.
Our latest have been purchased from Northern Ireland.
During
the winter months the herd is housed in large airy
buildings and feed hay, straw, potatoes, and apple
pomice. The young stock are fed home grown cereals
and beans. During the summer the herd graze on
the river meadows, beneath the apple trees orchards
and surrounding meadows.
